It’s Keyesville Classic Time
Thursday, March 18th, 2010This weekend, March 19 – 21, 2010, the 22nd Annual Keyesville Classic is being presented by Bionicon. Weather forecasts are looking great, trail maintenance has been done, and course officials are already out marking the course for practice runs beginning tomorrow. It’s going to be a great weekend!
Bionicon is proud to support trail advocacy in the Kern River Valley and beyond. We’ve already been working with the BLM on opening up some new riding opportunities in the area, as well as the Kernville Chamber of Commerce in developing a new Mountain Bike and BMX park in Kernville.
With sponsor support from Fox, Zoic, WTB, Gravity Dropper, Kern River Brewing Company, Mountain River Adventures, Kali, Snider’s Cyclery, TJ Frisbee’s, Sun Ringle, Applied Technology, Felt, CORBA, Niterider, Morningstar Tools, Harlot, Terry, Sheila Moon, North of the Border Bike Shop, Hayes, Sombrio, Formula Brakes, The Hive, Feedback Sports, Skeletal Metal, Hayes, Flashco, and the all-important Stewards of the Sequioa and Southern Sierra Fat Tire Association, we’re looking to have a great event. Lots of swag, lots of prizes, quality hand-made trophies.
Long in planning, our process was interrupted by a little fire last year. We got off to a late start, but thanks to the intrepid work of Bionicon Shredmobile Rep Val Vanderpool serving as race director, things have come together nicely.
The All Mountain event is one of the more exciting aspects of the race. Riders compete in three disciplines, Downhill, Short Track and Cross Country, on the same bike. Bike weigh-ins are carried out each day to ensure no major modifications are done to the bikes. It’s a true test of a bike and rider’s overall capabilities.
Even if you’re not racing there will be something for everyone. A night time Poker Ride, fashion show, movie screening of Women of Dirt, and a live band and barbecue all happen on Saturday afternoon. Demo bikes will be available from both Felt and Bionicon.
So come on down to Keyesville. There’s a reason this race has happened for 22 consecutive years, and we’re proud to carry on the tradition.
